Report: Jahm Najafi now interested in taking over Spurs PL rivals instead

The Sun have revealed that American Billionaire, Jahm Najafi, who was credited with an interest in buying Tottenham, is now looking to take over Everton instead.

It first reported last month that Najafi, who is chair of MSP Sports Capital, was working with a consortium to prepare the structure of a £3.1 billion offer to buy Tottenham (The Financial Times).

It was explained that the £3.1bn bid would consist of the club’s equity being valued at approximately £2.5bn, before adding about £610m of the club’s current debts.

The speculation grew when Najafi was pictured with Daniel Levy on Friday ahead of Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix (Sky Sports F1 News).

However, The Sun now explain that the meeting between the two was not related to any potential investment in Tottenham.

The publication reveals that Najafi wants to take over Everton instead of Spurs and that the billionaire could help underwrite the cost of the Merseyside club’s new stadium in Bramley Moore Dock.

Realistically, the £3.1bn bid that MSP Sports Capital were allegedly ready to offer, was never going to be enough to convince Levy and Joe Lewis to sell.

The Tottenham owners will not be in a hurry to find a buyer as they will be aware that the club will only become more lucrative to potential investors as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium grows in popularity as one of London’s go-to sporting and musical destinations.
