Inews have now revealed that James Maddison is interested in a move to Newcastle United this summer, having spoken to Kieran Trippier about the club during the international break.
Multiple reports have indicated over recent months that Spurs are willing to spend big to snap up James Maddison this summer but the North Londoners are expected to face competition for the attacking midfielder from Newcastle United (Football Insider).
It also emerged earlier this week that Spurs might also have to contend with competition from Arsenal, who are said to be eyeing a move for the 26-year-old (Mirror).
Inews have now asserted that Maddison remains at the top of Newcastle’s wishlist as the club look to bolster their squad ahead of their maiden Champions League campaign.
The publication states that the Leicester star has been a ‘long-term target’ for Eddie Howe’s side and that the midfielder’s entourage have already started to ‘methodically assess his options’ to decide which club would best suit him.
The report asserts that the Foxes have decided to cash in n Maddison, who has expressed an interest in moving to the North East and has discussed it with Trippier.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is difficult to see how we can beat Newcastle to Maddison’s signature as not only are they in the Champions League but they seem to be a club on the up while we seem to be heading in the opposite direction.
The fact that we do not have a sporting director or head coach in place makes our job even more difficult as it allows other clubs to steal a march on us by opening talks with the 26-year-old’s entourage.
