Report: Japan international is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of January

The Sun have revealed that Ange Postecoglou tasked Tottenham scout Ian Broomfield with a scouting mission to Scotland to run the rule over a couple of players, including Kyogo Furuhashi.

The report reveals that Broomfield was sent north of the border on a four-day scouting missing, with Celtic’s prolific marksman being one of the players on his agenda.

The Japanese international has set Scottish football alight since his switch from Vissel Kobel back in 2021, having scored 61 goals in just 98 games for the Bhoys so far.

Spurs are scouting Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic

The Sun explain that Broomfield watched Furuhashi fire a rare blank in Cetlic’s win over St Mirren last week.

This is not the first time that the 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs, with  The Daily Record reporting in the summer that Postecoglou was keen to raid his former club for the centre-forward.

The outlet stated at the time that Spurs could face competition from Burnley, who were also alleged to be eyeing Furuhashi, but the striker subsequently put pen to paper on a new four-year contract with Celtic back in July.

It makes no sense why Postecoglou would want to send scouts to watch Furuhashi in action. Having worked with the 28-year-old closely in Glasgow, the Australian will surely know all the ins and outs of the striker’s game.
