Report: Japan star wants a Premier League move – Spurs named as potential destination

Walfoot have revealed that Royale Union Saint-Gilloise Koki Machida is keen to move to the Premier League this summer amidst Tottenham’s interest.

It has been well-documented over recent weeks that Spurs are in the market for a centre-back and Voetbal Krant reported a few days ago that they had set their sights on Machida.

The report claimed that the Japanese star, who has been one of the best defenders across the Belgian top flight this season, is valued at around €15m (£12.8m).

Walfoot have now also backed up Tottenham’s interest in Machida and they say that this is ‘most likely’ to be the centre-back’s last season at Union SG.

The report states that the 26-year-old will have ‘many offers’ this summer but Spurs are the only club named as a potential destination for the player.

The publication claims that the defender wishes to play in either Germany or England and adds that his wish ‘could well be granted’ during the summer transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will have a hard time convincing any decent centre-half to join them, given how little game time Radu Dragusin has had over the last few months.

While there is no doubt that we need a bigger squad next season since we are back in Europe, any incoming centre-back would know that they are not going to displace either Romero or Van de Ven from the starting eleven.
