Report: Joao Sacramento pushing for Spurs to sign star this summer

According to a report from L’Equipe (as relayed by GFFN), Jose Mourinho’s assistant Joao Sacramento wants Tottenham to sign Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan as Hugo Llloris’ replacement in the summer transfer window.

Lloris’ future has been subject to much speculation recently, with the Tottenham captain being linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The 34-year-old is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract with Spurs and L’Equipe report that he is not keen on signing a new deal with the club as he is seeking one final challenge in his career.

The report claims that Sacramento, who previously worked as a video assistant at Lille, believes that Maignan’s potential is enormous and he would be the perfect option to replace Lloris this summer.

The Lille goalkeeper is also about to run into the final year of his deal and it is said that the Ligue 1 club are prepared to sell him for €25m (£21.5m) in the summer.

Tottenham goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos, who previously worked with Maignan at Lille, is also said to be keen on reuniting with the 25-year-old.

The report asserts that the Lille goalkeeper would need assurances that he would be Spurs’ number one as he is not ready to play second fiddle to Lloris.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Tottenham would try its best to get Lloris to sign an extension. The Frenchman still has a couple of years left in him at the top level and the club would not be keen on spending money on a goalkeeper this summer given that there are several other areas where we need strengthening.
