Report: Joe Lewis has been lining up Spurs sale – £800m deal fell through

Football Insider have reported that Tottenham Hotspur owner, Joe Lewis, has been lining up a sale of the club over the past year.

It is claimed that Lewis has sanctioned brokers to find him potential buyers for the club and that he values the current worth of the North London outfit at £1.6 billion.

The report goes as far as to say that a 50% buyer was found for the club back in 2020 in a deal said to be worth around £800 million.

This would have seen ENIC retain 50% of the club, however, the deal eventually fell through which left many involved extremely frustrated.

Joe Lewis is currently said to be the 574th richest man in the world and has owned Tottenham since his ENIC consortium bought the majority share from Alan Sugar back in 2001.

However, Lewis spends most of his time in the Bahamas and the club is actually run on his behalf by Daniel Levy, who owns 29.4% of ENIC.
