Report: Jorge Mendes has offered midfielder to Spurs for £17m

According to Mercado Azul, Tottenham could now make a move for Porto midfielder Vitinha as Wolves hesitate to trigger the option to sign the player permanently.

Vitinha impressed after breaking into the Porto first-team in the 2019/20 season and the 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Wolves.

While the youngster did not exactly light up Molineux Stadium last season, he did show glimpses of his quality when he was handed opportunities by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Mercado Azul have suggested that Wolves are interested in activating the option to sign Vitinha permanently and have asked permission to postpone the payment in order to find liquidity.

However, it is asserted that the West Midlands club are now hesitant to do the deal, which has opened the door for Tottenham.

Super-agent Jorge Mendes is said to have offered the Lilywhites the chance to sign Vitinha for €20m (£17m) this summer.

The report adds that Nuno is assessing the possibility of reuniting with the attacking midfielder in North London.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mendes’ involvement in deals might concern some Spurs fans, who have expressed their displeasure at the super agent’s growing influence on our transfers. However, that is not something that worries me.

On the whole, Mendes’ relationship with Wolves, has been beneficial for the West Midlands club and the same will likely be true of Spurs. I cannot see Levy agreeing to do any deal unless it is in the club’s interest.
