Report: Jose Mourinho and staff baffled Spurs sold player for cut-price fee

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho and his backroom staff are said to be baffled why the club decided to sell Kieran Trippier for a cut-price transfer fee.

The England international made the move to La Liga to join Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019 for £21.7million on a three-year (Sky Sports).

Trippier previously revealed that he did not want to leave the North Londoners but felt he had no choice to after both Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy failed to give him a firm answer on whether they wanted him to remain at the club (Sky Sports).

Football Insider claim that the Portuguese and his team believe that the 30-year-old is a better player than what Spurs currently have within their ranks in Matt Doherty and Serge Aurier.

The right-back position has been one of the weakest areas for Spurs this season with both Doherty and Aurier guilty of some big mistakes in key matches.
