Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning to raid his former side for academy goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi, according to the Evening Standard.

The report claims the Portuguese manager, who is now in the dugout at Serie A side Roma, is a keen admirer of the 20-year-old and initially promoted him into first-team training during his time at Spurs.

The England youth international has also reportedly appeared on the radar on a handful of clubs in the past, which included Portuguese side Benfica and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.

Oluwayemi’s contract at Spurs is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he would be free to negotiate a pre-contract with sides outside of England as early as January.

He is currently a member of the Nigeria senior team, after qualifying for national representation through members of his family.

Oluwayemi has yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs, but could choose to move on if the opportunity for senior football presents itself.

Spurs number one Hugo Lloris is also approaching the end of his contract while summer signing Pierluigi Gollini is competing to break into the starting spot.

Oluwayemi could well seize the opportunity to move abroad if he fancies his chances to break into a senior side quicker than at Spurs. He is very young still and has a lot to learn, but you cannot hold it against him if he decides that he sees his future elsewhere.
