Report: Jose Mourinho could take 10-goal Spurs forward to Roma

Jose Mourinho could attempt to take Carlos Vinicius to AS Roma this summer, according to a report by Calcio Mercato.

Vinicius’ loan spell at Spurs has not gone as well as he would have hoped for, with the Brazilian struggling to get a run of matches under his belt and was once again left out of the squad for yesterday’s match at Leeds.

Despite his lack of game time, the striker still boasts of a decent record having found the back of the net on 10 occasions in all competitions.

Tottenham have the option to make Vinicius’ loan deal from Benfica permanent at the end of the season for £36m.

However, Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the North Londoners have decided against taking up the option and are set to enter the market for a suitable back up to Harry Kane.

If Calcio Mercato are to be believed, that could open the door for Mourinho to swoop for Vinicius this summer.

Previous reports have already suggested that the Portuguese coach could raid his former club for Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

It has now been asserted that the 58-year-old could take Vinicius to the Stadio Olympico to add further competition for the likes of Edin Dzeko and Borja Mayoral.
