Report: Jose Mourinho desperate to take Spurs star to Roma this summer

According to Italian publication Il Messaggero, Jose Mourinho is prepared to give everything to try and sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Mourinho was the man who brought Hojbjerg to Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2020 and the Dane had a solid first season in North London.

The midfielder has struggled to maintain the same sort of consistency this campaign and was coming under a bit of criticism until a couple of months ago.

However, the 26-year-old has silenced his critics with some of his displays over recent weeks and looks to have formed a very good understanding with Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park since the Urugawan’s arrival in January.

Il Messaggero claim that Mourinho is very keen to reunite with Hojbjerg at the Stadio Olimpico this summer. The report suggests that the Spurs boss is prepared to give everything to take the midfielder to the Italian capital.

However, Il Messaggero also go on to add that a move to Roma is ‘unlikely’ for Hojbjerg as Tottenham are likely to demand too big a fee for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Conte does not view Hojbjerg as being an established starter for Spurs next season, I think the Italian will be keen to keep the Dane around in the squad. The only way I see Hojbjerg joining Roma is if the midfielder pushes to leave, which is unlikely to happen.
