Report: Jose Mourinho identifies two key positions to address in summer window

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified a defensive midfielder and a right-back as his two main priorities for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Southampton midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who is reportedly keen to make the move to Tottenham after telling the Saints that he wants to join a bigger club (Evening Standard).

Mourinho has allowed former midfielder, Eric Dier to drop back into his favoured position of centre-back since joining he took over from Mauricio Pochettino in November.

With right-back Kyle Walker-Peters currently out on loan at the Saints it is suggested he could be used as a potential bargaining tool to persuade the south coast side into lowering their valuation of Hojbjerg (Football Insider).

Serge Aurier’s future at the club is also under question, according to the Evening Standard, who is reportedly set to push for a move away from the Lilywhites.

The Ivorian still has two years left on his contract in North London but he is not believed to be interested in extending his stay.

Both positions which we clearly need to improve on, it is just a shame we do not have the funds to go into this transfer window and really make a statement. Although we will likely address those positions, I just hope the bargain buys we will likely buy can do a job.
