Report: Jose Mourinho interested in signing Chelsea defender this summer

Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma to Tottenham this summer, according to RMC.

The report suggests that Mourinho has already identified the Frenchman as a potential transfer target to the Spurs hierarchy.

Although any potential move is still in the works, it is believed that the Blues would be open to allowing Zouma to leave this summer. However, Chelsea are reportedly holding out for a ‘high’ offer before they allow the 25-year-old to exit Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho has history with Zouma as the Portuguese manager signed him for Chelsea back in 2014 (Transfermarkt).

Spurs look set to lose Jan Vertonghen this summer with the Belgian unlikely to receive a new contract when his current deal runs out this season (Sky Sports).

Zouma has not quite lived up to the expectations set by Mourinho when he arrived in London six years ago. Due to a lack of first-team action, Zouma has been sent out on loan to Stoke City and Everton during his spell at the Bridge (Transfermarkt)

Spurs Web Opinion

With Vertonghen heading for the door, I think there are worse players out there to be had. However, it all depends on the price. I don’t think we will end up going all out for Zouma as it doesn’t seem we have the funds available. It really is going to be an interesting summer.
