Report: Jose Mourinho linked with move for PSG star

According to a report by TodoFichajes, Jose Mourinho is keen to bring Angel Di Maria to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.

The Tottenham boss worked with Di Maria at Real Madrid, where the Argentine enjoyed a successful spell, scoring 36 goals in 190 appearances for the Spanish giants (transfermarkt).

He then moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2014 and ended up departing Old Trafford after just one season in which he failed to hit the expected heights.

Since then, Di Maria has arguably had the most successful spell of his career at Paris Saint-Germain but his time at the Ligue 1 giants could be coming to an end.

TodoFichajes claim that the 32-year-old will not renew his contract with PSG which is set to run out at the end of the season and is looking for a new adventure.

It is said that Di Maria already has a lucrative offer from Juventus but the winger is also being pursued by Tottenham.

The report suggests that Mourinho is keen to bring the experienced wide man to Spurs and that the club’s hierarchy have already contacted the PSG star regarding a potential move.

Spurs Web Opinion

Di Maria has always oozed class and is a typical Jose Mourinho attacker due to the work he puts in off the ball. I also believe that the reason he flopped at Manchester United was because of Louis van Gaal’s mismanagement.

However, the winger will be 33 in the summer and so the signing would not fit the profile of players Spurs have gone for in the past. The fact that he could be available on a free transfer might make him an attractive proposition, given our financial problems.
