Report: Jose Mourinho linked with return raid on Spurs for two players this summer

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Jose Mourinho wants to raid Tottenham for Eric Dier and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg this summer.

It came as a surprise when Roma announced earlier this week that they had reached an agreement with Mourinho to replace Paulo Fonseca at the end of the season.

The announcement came just two weeks on from the Portuguese coach’s sacking at Spurs.

Corriere dello Sport claim that the former Spurs head coach is motivated to prove himself at the Stadio Olympico and lock horns with his old nemesis Antonio Conte, who guided Inter Milan to the Scudetto this season.

The report explains that while Roma have not promised Mourinho a lot of money to spend, the Serie A club are prepared to give him time to rebuild the squad.

It is suggested that Mourinho has already handed the club a shopping list, which consists of several players from the Premier League, with the 58-year-old keen on building a strong and aggressive side.

Among the names on the list are Eric Dier, who is said to be highly regarded by Mourinho and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has had an impressive first season at Spurs since arriving from Southampton last summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

With both Dier and Hojbjerg having plenty of time left on their contracts, Roma would not be in a position to afford either player. Some Spurs fans seem to have made up their minds about Dier but I still believe that he has the attributes needed to be a top centre-half and would like to see him given a fresh start under a new manager.
