Report: Jose Mourinho now a frontrunner to land Dybala amidst Spurs links

According to La Repubblica (17/05/22 – as relayed by Roma Press), AS Roma have now emerged as the favourites to sign rumoured Tottenham target, Paulo Dybala.

Dybala has confirmed that he will be leaving Juventus when his contract runs out in the summer. However, there have been contradictory reports regarding Tottenham’s interest in the Argentine over the last few weeks.

While Foot Mercato have claimed the North Londoners are keen on the Juve star, TuttoMercatoWeb have reported that the forward is not a ‘concrete option’ for Antonio Conte’s men.

Dybala is also thought to be of interest to the likes of Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid (But! Football Club), with the Nerazzurri being established as the front-runners for the player a couple of weeks ago (Gazzetta dello Sport).

However, if La Repubblica’s latest update is to be believed, Inter are no longer expected to win the race for the Bianconeri star’s signature.

It is revealed that Dybala told some fans at the Allianz Stadium following Juventus’ 2-2 draw with Lazio that he will ‘never join’ Inter.

The report adds that Roma are now considered ‘strong favourites’ to land the former Palermo man, with Jose Mourinho’s men ‘ready to make an advance’ for the player.

However, since this report, multiple sources have claimed that Tottenham are making a move for the Argentine (Christian Martin), with Fabio Paratici even reportedly holding talks with the player (Pedro Almeida).

Spurs Web Opinion

If Roma do sign Dybala, that might be a sign that they are willing to cash in on Nicolo Zanilo, who I would love for Spurs to snap up.

However, like Dybala, Zaniolo prefers playing on the right, which is why Spurs might decide against pursuing him after the impact Kulusevski has made since his move.
