Report: Jose Mourinho wants to take 27-year-old Spurs target to Roma

French publication Foot Mercato have revealed that AS Roma have entered the race for Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Tolisso has struggled for game time under Julian Nagelsmann, having featured in just six Bundesliga matches so far this season, with the majority of those appearances coming off the bench.

CalcioMercato reported two months ago that Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici has made contact with the 27-year-old’s entourage over a potential move to North London in January.

Jeunes Footeaux revealed a couple of weeks ago that Tottenham are facing competition from the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle United and Inter Milan for the France international.

Foot Mercato have now stated that Roma have also entered the race for Tolisso, with former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said to be keen on bringing the midfielder to the Stadio Olimpico.

With the former Lyon man’s contract with Bayern running out at the end of the season, it is explained that the German giants are ready to cash in on him for a modest fee next month.

It is stated that Tolisso is not part of Nagelsmann’s plans and he is keen to seek a new challenge away from the Allianz Arena.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to be in the market for a midfielder in January, and Tolisso would certainly be an upgrade over the likes of Harry Winks.

While I can see why signing the Frenchman for a cut-price deal would be an attractive proposition for the club, I do have major concerns over his injury record
