Report: Jose Mourinho was expecting call from Spurs over a job in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has been at the helm in North London for over five years now, leading Spurs on an incredible journey from the Europa League to the Champions League Final.

However, there were reports in the summer that Real Madrid were looking at Poch to fill their then-vacant managerial position (AS).

In the end, the Spanish giants re-appointed Zinedine Zidane to take charge, with Poch remaining in London, and perhaps leaving another manager a little upset.

The Daily Star have reported that Jose Mourinho was expecting a call from Tottenham to replace Poch as the current manager back in the summer.

This comes after the chosen one parted ways with Man United late last year and he has been out of management ever since.

Spurs should feel flattered as Goal reported that Jose turned down the likes of Monaco, Lille, Wolfsburg, Schalke, Roma, Milan, and Sporting over the past few months.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m not sure that Mourinho, a limited budget, and Daniel Levy would exactly be a match made in heaven. I think we’ll stick with Poch.
