Report: Journalist claims Spurs are considering contract talks with experienced first-team player

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering opening talks with Hugo Lloris to extend his stay in North London, according to respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The club captain is currently under contract with the Champions League finalists until 2022 (transfermarkt) following the contract he signed in 2016 which will take him up until the age of 35 (Guardian).

Lloris started the season with questionable form having made errors against Southampton at home and away to Brighton which led to opposition goals on both occasions.

The mistake at Brighton in October proved to be costly for the French World Cup winner, Lloris spilled a Pascal Gross cross at the feet of Neal Maupay, who tapped in to give Brighton a third-minute lead at the Amex Stadium which saw the keeper fall awkwardly into his own net and sustained a dislocated elbow.

Since coming back into the side in the new year he has rediscovered his old form with impressive displays against Manchester City in North London along with a solid performance at home to Everton following the Premier League restart.
