Report: Journalist claims Spurs are keen on 26-year-old Chelsea player

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma during the current transfer window, according to Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard.

The report claims that the 26-year-old could leave Chelsea with Tottenham expected to face competition from Everton and AS Roma.

Jose Mourinho, who became Roma’s new head coach in April managed the French international during his time in charge of Chelsea and is now keen to take him to Italy on loan.

It is said that Wolves had already declared their interest, only for Zouma to snub any prospect of a move to Molineux.

Football.London claimed last month that Spurs could be in the market for as many as two new central defenders as part of their overhaul of the current squad.

The centre back did not play a single minute for France during their Euro 2020 campaign and could now be set for a fresh challenge next season.

Zouma was a regular last season under Frank Lampard having started 15 of Chelsea’s first 17 Premier League matches but found first-team opportunities harder to come by following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel with just seven further top flight starts.

Zouma is a proven Premier League player, however, it is highly doubtful that Chelsea will want to do business with their arch rivals. At 26, it is likely that they would want a significant transfer fee to be even to be tempted to send him to North London.
