Report: Journalist plays down prospect of Spurs star joining European giant

Dele Alli’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been the subject of intense press speculation in recent weeks.

The Daily Mail claimed that Tottenham were ready to offload the England international during the January transfer window with Paris Saint-Germain tipped to make a loan approach for the midfielder after failing with an attempt in the summer.

L’Equipe football writer Erik Bielderman appeared on talkSPORT 2 and poured cold water on the prospect of Dele joining the French giants after claiming that there is no interest from Mauricio Pochettino’s side in his former player during the current window.

Bielderman instead believes that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante would be a better addition at this time since they lack a general in the middle of the park.

Dele has experienced a difficult season under Jose Mourinho in North London having found himself out of the first team picture and has started just one Premier League game this season, which came on the opening day of the campaign (transfermarkt).

“I don’t believe Dele Alli is the type of player who can really turn PSG from a very good team into a great team,” Bielderman told talkSPORT 2.

“In midfield they need to find a N’Golo Kante. They need some hard workers.

“Manchester United with Roy Keane, they were a balanced team. Arsenal with Patrick Vieira, they were a balanced team.

“We need that. We only have Marco Verratti and that’s not enough.
