Report: Journalist provides update on Spurs talks over Antonio Nusa

Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen has played down reports about Antonio Nusa joining Tottenham, insisting that the Premier League side have only held exploratory conversations about the winger thus far.

Spurs fans have got quite excited about the updates that have emerged over the last couple of days about Tottenham’s pursuit of Nusa.

Various outlets have suggested that the Lilywhites are locked in talks with Club Brugge over a €30m (£25.7m) for the winger, with the deal set to see the teenager loaned back to the Belgian side for the rest of the season (The Athletic).

It has emerged that even though the Norway international is also of interest to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, Spurs are now looking to ‘edge to the front of the queue for the attacker’ (Football.London).

In fact, The Daily Mirror even claimed on Friday that Daniel Levy and co want to ‘move quickly’ to finalise a deal to ensure that other English sides do not hijack their efforts to sign the youngster.

Talks not advanced between Spurs and Brugge for Nusa

However, Calcoen has now brought Spurs fans back to earth by revealing that the North London side have only held exploratory conversations with Brugge over Nusa.

He makes it clear that Tottenham have not yet launched any offer for the teenager and adds that other clubs are still in the race for the pacy attacker.

Even if Tottenham have not launched an offer, that does not mean that the club are not making progress in their negotiations. All signs that Spurs are now putting in the groundwork to know the specifics of what Club Brugge want so that they can clinch the deal as soon as they submit the offer.
