Report: Journalist reveals multiple strikers have turned down move to Spurs this summer

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are not close to completing a deal for a striker as things stand, amidst speculation linking the club with a move for Arkadiusz Milik.

Reports from Italy have suggested that Spurs have stepped up their interest in the Poland international after his move to Roma fell through (Calcio Mercato).

However, Gold has revealed that Tottenham’s interest in Milik has cooled and that the club are unlikely to sign him before the transfer window shuts.

He revealed that reports linking Spurs with a move for Wolfsburg forward Wout Weghorst are also wide off the mark.

The journalist asserted that several strikers have turned down the chance to move to Tottenham his summer as they did not want to play second fiddle to Harry Kane.

Spurs have apparently enquired about a long list of forwards, including Southampton’s Danny Ings, Torino captain Andrea Belotti, Metz’s Habib Diallo and Benfica duo Carlos Vinicius and Haris Seferovic among others.

However, Gold hints that the North Londoners are continuing to keep their options open and are confident that they will be able to land a striker before the window closes.

Based on the various names being mentioned, common sense would suggest that the Milik deal has the best chance of progressing, given that the striker still has only a year left on his contract. Napoli do not hold much power in the situation and they will likely lower their asking price as we edge closer to the transfer deadline.
