Report: Juventus and AS Roma enter race for £30m Spurs-linked midfielder

CalcioMercato have now claimed that Juventus and AS Roma have entered the race for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Frattesi’s stock has grown considerably over the last 12 months and the midfielder was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during the summer transfer window (Gazzetta).

However, he stayed put at Sassuolo and has made an impressive start to the new campaign, having found the back of the net four times in 11 Serie A matches so far (Transfermarkt).

Reports are continuing to link the 23-year-old with a move away from the Mapei Stadium ahead of the January transfer window.

Sassuolo News reported earlier this month that representatives from Tottenham were present to run the rule over Frattesi during the club’s 2-1 loss at home to Inter Milan.

However, if CalcioMercato’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs could face competition from both Juve and Roma for the midfielder. The report asserts that Sassuolo value the Italy international at €35m (£30m).

If Conte is to use the 3-5-2 more often in the second half of the season, he would likely want to sign one more central midfielder in January, particularly with Pape Sarr likely to be loaned out. Frattesi is certainly an option that both Paratici and Conte will have their eye on, given that they both follow Italian football closely.
