Report: Juventus are looking to reach an agreement for Spurs-linked defender

In what comes as a big blow to Tottenham in their pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori, CalcioMercato have said that Juventus are now trying to finalise the capture of the centre-back, who has expressed his intention to join the Serie A giants.

On the back of Calafiori’s exceptional campaign at Bologna, various outlets over the last few weeks have backed Tottenham to make a move for the centre-back this summer.

The latest such update came a couple of days ago from Football Insider who claimed that Fabio Paratici is spearheading Spurs’ move for the 21-year-old but explained that the Lilywhites have competition to contend with from both Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen.

The same three clubs have now been named by CalcioMercato as contenders for Calafiori and they state that it is Juventus who hold the upper hand.

The report says that the Bianconeri’s contracts with Bologna have become ‘increasingly frequent’ over the last few days as the two clubs aim to hammer out a deal for the defender, who is valued at €25m (£21.5m).

The publication adds that while the centre-back is flattered by interest from abroad, his priority is to seal a move to the Allianz Stadium this summer.

The Old Lady are thought to be looking to push through a part-exchange deal, with one of Tommaso Barbieri or Tiago Djalo potentially heading to Bologna as part of the deal to bring Calafiori to Turin.

It seems like both Calafiori and Alessandro Buongiorno are prioritising moves to Serie A sides while Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly are leaning towards joining Newcastle. It remains to be seen which centre-back Tottenham now turn to this summer.
