According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are confident of beating Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer.
Zaniolo has not been able to hit his previous heights since returning from an ACL injury that kept him out of action for the vast majority of the 2020/21 season (Transfermarkt).
Reports from Italy claimed last week that AS Roma are expected to open contract talks with the winger but Jose Mourinho’s side would be willing to cash in on him for around €40m (£33.8m) should they fail to reach an agreement (Calciomercato.it).
Sky Italia then revealed Zaniolo is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window and added that the North London club could face competition from Juventus and AC Milan for the 22-year-old.
Gazzetta have now claimed that Juve could make a move for Zaniolo if Paulo Dybala leaves the Allianz Stadium when his contract runs out in the summer.
The report adds that the Old Lady are aware of Tottenham’s interest in the Italy international but believe they have the ‘right weapons’ to beat Antonio Conte’s men to the player’s signature.
Spurs Web Opinion
I was convinced until a year and a half ago that Zaniolo had the potential to become one of the best players in the world.

However, he has clearly not been the same player since his ACL injury, which is probably why Roma are not as keen to renew his contract and keep him at the club.
So, I would not be too displeased to see Juve beat us to the 22-year-old as signing the winger would involve an element of risk.
