Report: Juventus send scouts to watch striker said to be interesting Spurs

Argentine publication TyC Sports have revealed that scouts from Juventus were in attendance to watch rumoured Tottenham target Julian Alvarez action during River Plate’s 4-0 win over Racing Club on Thursday.

Alvarez found the back of the net against Racing club, to bring his tally to 17 times in 18 league matches so far this season.

Tottenham are one of the clubs alleged to be following the 21-year-old’s progress ahead of the January transfer window

It was previously reported that Spurs face competition from the likes of AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa for the Argentine international.

Sources from Argentina have backed Alvarez to be sold in January as River Plate might find it difficult to extend his contract, which runs out in December of 2022.

Tyc Sports have now revealed that Juventus are also in the race for the 21-year-old, with representatives from the Old Lady in attendance at the El Monumental to run the rule over the striker.

The report reveals that River Plate will only let Alvarez go in January if his €20m (£16.9M) release clause is met.

Spurs Web Opinion

Alvarez seems like one of the best talents to come out of South American football in a while. His goal-scoring record is quite superb and I am sure there will be plenty of European clubs lining up to sign him in January.

However, I have my doubts over whether Spurs should pursue him. Signing the 21-year-old would carry significant risk as there are no guarantees on how he will adapt to the Premier League.
