Report: Juventus set to challenge Spurs for winger

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus are considering making an offer for Chelsea star Willian who has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs.

Willian’s contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer and the 31-year-old has confirmed that talks over a new deal have stopped after the Blues only offered him a two-year contract despite him demanding a three-year deal (Gazeta Esportiva).

Spurs were labelled as the favourites to land the Brazilian if he was to become a free agent in the summer, with Jose Mourinho said to be keen on reuniting with the former Anzhi Makhachkala player in North London (Mundo Deportivo).

Football Insider reported last week that Spurs were ready to make an early approach to ensure they land Willian but could now face competition from the Italian giants (Daily Mail).

It is said that Maurizio Sarri is eager to work with the Blues wide man again and sees him as someone who would fit perfectly into Juventus’ 4-3-3 formation.

Spurs Web Opinion

Free agents are going to be extremely in-demand this window as most clubs will not be in a position to invest heavily into their squads owing to the financial crunch as a result of the coronavirus shutdown. Willian will be an attractive option for many teams across Europe but the Chelsea star’s good relationship with Mourinho could give us an upper hand in the race.
