Report: Juventus star previously on Spurs’ radar could be Barcelona bound

Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic who was previously rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar is expected to complete a move to Barcelona this summer, according to reports from Italy.

Gazzetta Italia reveal that the Bosnian international who has been a consistent performer in the heart of Juve’s midfield for the last four seasons has already made his mind up over joining the Catalan giants.

Pjanic has previously admitted that he rejected a move to Tottenham as well as their North London rivals Arsenal (Daily Mail).

However, there is another reason that the transfer might have an influence on Tottenham’s ambitions.

The reports suggests that the Juventus star could be a replacement for Ivan Rakitic, who has been linked with a move to Spurs.

Mundo Deportivo have installed the Lilywhites as the front-runners for the Croatian international’s signature.

I don’t expect us to sign Rakitic unless we plan on selling one of our midfielders. As things stand, a defensive midfielder should be our priority but if the club are planning to move on Tanguy Ndombele in order raise some funds, then we could be in for Rakitic.
