Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has now revealed that Juventus have moved into pole position to sign rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic.

The race between Juventus and Tottenham for Vlahovic’s signature seems to be heating up if reports in the Italian press over recent weeks are to be believed.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Antonio Conte has been assured by the Tottenham hierarchy that they are committed to trying to sign the 21-year-old.

TuttoJuve24 revealed that Juve are worried they could be pipped by Spurs to the signing of the Serbian international after Conte’s arrival in North London.

According to Tuttosport, Fiorentina are hoping for Tottenham to make a move for Vlahovic, with the Viola thought to be dreading the prospect of selling the striker to the Old Lady.

CaclioMeracto claimed last week that Juve had drawn up a list of backups for the Fiorentina man as they feared they might miss out on him amidst Spurs’ interest.

However, if Schira’s latest update is to be believed, Massimiliano Allegri’s side are now the front-runners in the race for Vlahovic.

The journalist claimed that Juventus are looking to complete an operation for the centre-forward in the summer.

Schira added that the Serie A giants have worked out a draft of personal terms for Vlahovic, which is thought to be around €6m (£5m) per year.

I suspect there are plenty of twists and turns to come in the Vlahovic sage from now until the summer if indeed the striker decides not to leave in January.

What seems clear at the moment is that the striker is not going to sign a new contract with Fiorentina.

One would have thought that the parties would have come to an agreement by now if the 21-year-old was just playing hardball for a bigger salary.
