Report: Key Tottenham player suspended for second leg against AC Milan

The Sun have confirmed that Eric Dier is suspended for Tottenham’s second leg against AC Milan after picking up a yellow card at the San Siro yesterday.

Spurs were without several key first-team players for the clash yesterday, with Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Yves Bissouma out with long-term injuries while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was suspended for the clash after picking up three yellow cards in the group stage.

Dier and Clement Lenglet were on two yellow cards each ahead of the clash in Milan and the centre-back could not avoid a booking.

The England international dragged down Olivier Giroud in the 63rd minute after the Frenchman wriggled free of his attention, leaving referee Sandro Schaerer with no choice but to brandish a yellow card.

That means that Antonio Conte will not be able to call on Dier’s services when Spurs look to turn the tie around as Milan visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on March 8.

Spurs Web Opinion

Dier has certainly been guilty of making some mistakes at the back this season but the 29-year-old will undoubtedly be a big miss as he is our main leader and organiser at the back. I would certainly not be as confident with Lenglet playing down the middle in the return leg.
