Report: ‘Knows him very well’ – Premier League manager wants reunion with Spurs player

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Nottingham Forest are interested in Tottenham defender Joe Rodon with Steve Cooper keen on reuniting with the Wales international.

The 24-year-old has endured a tough two seasons at Spurs since joining from Swansea, making just 24 appearances in that time (Transfermarkt).

Antonio Conte has often overlooked Rodon when picking his three-man defence, with the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Spurs have reportedly included Rodon on a ten-man list of players they plan to offload this summer as part of the club’s rebuild heading into the new campaign (Evening Standard).

Football.London journalist Gold believes there is interest in Rodon coming in the direction of newly-promoted Forest with manager Cooper already familiar with the Welshman from their time together at Swansea.

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “Do they loan him out or do they sell him? There is interest from [Nottingham] Forest. Steve Cooper is his former manager. He knows him very well. I’d be stunned if Forest don’t show some real interest in him in the coming weeks.”

The fact that Cooper and Rodon already know each other quite well, coupled with Forest’s promotion to the Premier League could be the sign of a good move for the defender.

He is not getting any game time at Spurs plus he has reportedly been shortlisted for transfer, so a move to somewhere where he knows the coach could really appeal to him.
