Report: La Liga club ‘can’t even dream’ of signing Spurs star permanently

Deporte Valenciano have claimed that Valencia cannot afford to sign Bryan Gil permanently from Tottenham in the summer.

Gil struggled to make much of an impact at Spurs after arriving from Sevilla last summer but the winger has demonstrated his quality since joining Valencia on loan in January.

The 21-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the mainstays in the Los Che starting lineup and has not taken much time to win the Mestalla faithful over.

Previous reports have indicated that the La Liga club are already working on extending the winger’s stay at the club beyond the end of the season (90 Min).

Deporte Valenciano have now reported that while Valencia wish to keep hold of Gil, a permanent deal is out of the question as the club ‘can’t even dream’ of affording the player.

The report adds that extending the winger’s loan might have become more difficult as a result of Jose Bordalas’ side failing to qualify for any European competition next season.

However, it is explained that an extension to the loan is not out of the question even if it means Valencia might have to cover Gil’s entire wages.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Gil will want to extend the loan spell in order to continue playing regularly and give himself the best chance of making it into the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar. If Valencia are not able to afford a deal, I am sure many La Liga clubs would be lining up to take the 21-year-old on loan.
