Report: La Liga club have Spurs’ Harry Winks as second-choice midfield target

According to AS, Valencia could make a move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks if they are unsuccessful in completing the signing of Juventus’ Arthur Melo.

The report states that Arthur’s salary demands are providing prohibitive for Valencia, given the state of their finances.

It is suggested that while the Juve star’s entourage are optimistic that a move to the Mestalla will be completed, Valencia are looking at potential alternatives.

Winks is said to be the La Liga club’s main backup plan, with the Spurs star’s name being proposed by the club’s management as Gennaro Gattuso looks ‘favourably’ at the option.

The report adds that Tottenham are open to loaning out Winks since suitable offers have not arrived for the midfielder so far this summer.

The England international is alleged to have rejected Sampdoria’s advances and is waiting for Valencia to make a move. AS add that Winks knows he is the second name on Los Che’s list but is prepared to wait as the Mestalla is his preferred destination.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Winks’ game is better suited to La Liga than it is to the Premier League. So, I can see why the midfielder is keen on making a move to Valencia.

However, Spurs would probably prefer to sell him permanently rather than loaning him out, given that he only has two years left on his contract. I doubt Valencia would be able to afford a permanent deal for the midfielder.
