Report: La Liga club in ongoing negotiations with Spurs about loan deal

The print edition of AS (16/07/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla for Sergio Reguilon are currently ongoing.

Any small chance of Reguilon forcing himself into Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming season were seemingly ended when the Italian chose not to include the left-back in the club’s pre-season tour to South Korea.

Over the past week, reports have indicated that the former Real Madrid man is of interest to Juventus (CalcioMecatoWeb) while Sevilla are also thought to be keen on signing the player on loan (Football Insider).

90min reported a few days ago that the Tottenham full-back would prefer to return to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, where he spent the 2019/20 season on loan before joining Spurs.

If AS’s latest update is to be believed, Sevilla have already started negotiations with Tottenham over a deal for Reguilon. However, the report does not state how far the talks between the two clubs have progressed so far.

It is explained that the La Liga club would prefer to sign the Spain international on a loan deal rather than a permanent one.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs will likely want to include an obligation to buy with any loan deal for Reguilon. However, if they do not get a suitable offer for the 25-year-old, perhaps they would come around to the idea of simply loaning him out, with the hope that an impressive showing out on loan would raise his stock ahead of next summer.
