Report: La Liga club interested in signing Spurs player if they can sell star first

The Athletic have revealed that Valencia will make a move for Bryan Gil if winger Goncalo Guedes leaves the club this summer.

Gil showed glimpses of his class during his loan spell at Valencia during the second half of last season but the winger found himself out of the La Liga club’s starting eleven in the final few weeks of the campaign.

Gennaro Gattuso has since replaced Jose Bordalas as the club’s head coach but Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month that they remain keen on bringing the Spurs winger back to the Mestalla this summer.

Gil, who has been training with the Tottenham first-team during pre-season, is also rumoured to be on the radars of Marseille (Fabrizio Romano), Real Sociedad (Estadio Deportivo).

Italian journalist Daniele Longo revealed last week that Sampdoria are expected to hold talks with Fabio Paratici regarding signing Gil on loan but SampNews24 subsequently reported Tottenham’s demands of a loan fee of €2.5m (£2.1m) for the winger is deemed ‘excessive’ by the Serie A club.

The Athletic have now confirmed that Spurs are looking to send Gil out on loan again before the transfer window closes. The report asserts that Valencia would be willing to take the winger back if they are able to find a buyer for Guedes over the coming weeks.

Even if Gil is not in Conte’s plans for the future, it would make sense for Tottenham to loan the winger out rather than sell him this summer.

Spurs will be hoping that the 21-year-old puts himself in the shop window by performing well on loan during the upcoming campaign and that they are able to recoup the fee they paid for him.
