Report: La Liga club know winger’s agent has met with Tottenham

According to Spanish publication Sport, Ousmane Dembele’s agent has already met with Tottenham Hotspur amidst the uncertainty surrounding his future at Barcelona.

Dembele’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and it was reported two months ago that Spurs were eyeing a potential January move for the winger.

This news excited some Spurs fans on social media, who felt the 24-year-old could get a new lease of life in North London.

Mundo Deportivo then claimed last week that Fabio Paratici was keen on bringing the French international to North London, having previously tried to sign him for Juventus.

It was suggested that Spurs had promised the former Borussia Dortmund man a ‘lot of money’ and that he would be a key piece in the club’s future project.

Sport have now provided an update on Dembele’s contract situation and his future.

It is explained that Barca do not want to let the player go for free and are trying to agree on a new contract with his representatives before the end of the month.

However, there is said to be a ‘big difference’ between the salary that the Catalan giants are putting on the table and the offers the winger has received from other clubs.

In addition, it is said that Dembele’s agent has already snubbed multiple offers from Barcelona and that he is demanding a lump sum on renewal, which the La Liga club cannot afford to meet.

Finally, it is revealed that Barca are aware that Dembele’s agent has already met with Spurs as well as the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Juventus to listen to their offers.

Spurs Web Opinion

This could well be a case of Dembele’s agent feeding the speculation to the press to put pressure on Barcelona to meet his client’s contract demands. I am not convinced that the 24-year-old will be a good fit for Antonio Conte.
