Report: La Liga club make transfer decision on player amidst Spurs links

Marca have now revealed that Barcelona have decided not to sell Tottenham target Franck Kessie in January.

Reports from Spain emerged last week that Barca were willing to move Kessie on in January, just six months after they signed him on a free transfer (AS). It was suggested that the Catalonian club would sell for just €10m (£8.5m) as he is not part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans.

Sport then reported a couple of days ago that Tottenham were at the front of the queue to land the Ivorian ahead of both Juventus and Inter Milan, with the North London club said to have made contact with Barcelona regarding a deal for the midfielder.

The report explained that Spurs had made a loan offer with an ‘interesting purchase option’ for Kessie but the former Milan man was keen to remain at Camp Nou and reassess his situation in the summer.

If Marca’s latest update is to believe, the 25-year-old’s entourage have now met with the Barca hierarchy to discuss the various offers on the table.

It is alleged the La Liga giants have decided not to cash in on Kessie in January and to keep him at the club as a squad player until the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Barcelona were willing to sell Kessie, I am not sure that the player will want to leave Camp Nou with the tail between his legs, just six months after arriving at the club.

I also doubt that he would want to risk moving to a new league and to a team like Spurs, where he is not guaranteed to start. The Ivorian might want to return to the comforts of the Serie A to get his career back on track.
