Report: La Liga club now confident of signing Spurs star after meeting agent

According to Diario AS (as relayed by OneFootball), Barcelona chiefs are now ‘confident’ of snapping up Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon is surplus to requirements at Tottenham after the arrival of Ivan Perisic this summer, with the Croat expected to compete with Ryan Sessegnon for the left wing-back slot.

The Spain international has been mooted as a target for both Juventus (CalcioMecatoWeb) and Sevilla (Football Insider) this summer but over recent weeks Barcelona have emerged as contenders for his signature.

Mundo Deportivo revealed a little over a week ago that the Catalan giants are eyeing Reguilon as an alternative to Chelsea star Marcos Alonso this summer.

If AS’s latest update is to be believed, Barca directors Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff met with the Tottenham man’s agent Kia Joorabchian in Miami last week to discuss a potential transfer to Camp Nou.

The report claims a loan move, as well as a permanent transfer, were discussed by the trio. Barca are now said to be confident of being able to snap up the left-back, who is allegedly valued by Tottenham at £20m.

I do wonder if Reguilon might prefer to move to Sevilla as the last thing he would want is to warm the bench at Barcelona. The 25-year-old needs regular game time under his belt at this stage of his career and he will get that at Seville under a coach in Lopetegui, who knows him well.
