Report: La Liga giants have asked Spurs to pay £12m for 31-year-old

According to the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in signing Barcelona goalkeeper Neto this summer.

Neto has found opportunities few and far between since joining Barcelona from Valencia in 2019.

The report reveals that Spurs made enquiries for the Brazilian months ago and were told by Barcelona to pay €14m (£12m), a fee which the North Londoners consider to be excessive.

It is alleged that Tottenham also explored the possibility of a loan deal but even that proved ‘complicated’.

Neto is said to be keen on moving to the Premier League and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the goalkeeper.

The Catalan club are said to be ready to sell the 31-year-old as they go about reducing their wage bill.

However, reports from Italy now indicate that another goalkeeper in Pierluigi Gollini is set to fly to London to complete his proposed move to Spurs.

Neto might have been an option Paratici considered but perhaps the Spurs managing director of football decided that a deal for Gollini was more enticing due to Atalanta’s willingness to loan out the 26-year-old.
