Report: La Liga giants would prefer to sell player to Spurs over Serie A clubs

According to the print edition of Sport (06/06/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Franck Kessie may end up at Tottenham Hotspur this summer despite his wish to return to Italy.

The report states that Kessie is expected to leave Camp Nou this summer, with the player thought to be surplus to requirements to Xavi Hernandez.

It is alleged that Barcelona are putting pressure on the midfielder and a few other players to accept a transfer, leaving them with ‘no other option’ but to leave the club.

Return to Serie A more likely for Kessie

It is explained that Kessie would prefer to return to Serie A, with Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus thought to be interested in the 26-year-old.

However, this is said to be a problem for Barca as none of those clubs can afford their asking price, with the Catalan giants even turning down two offers from Inter already.

Sport state that Xavi’s men are thus pushing Kessie towards the Premier League, with Tottenham well positioned to swoop for the former Milan man.

Barca reportedlty want €35m (£30.1m) for the Ivory Coast international but the report adds that the midfielder’s desire to play in Europe may scupper Spurs’ chances of signing him.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kessie, just like many of the other players we have been linked with over recent months, was a target for Spurs during the Paratici and Conte era.

It remains to be seen whether the midfielder is still on Tottenham’s radar, with the targets now likely to change after Postecoglou’s arrival.
