Report: La Liga side are interested in Spurs player who ‘plans to force’ an exit this summer

Giovani Lo Celso is thought to be unhappy with his lack of minutes at Tottenham Hotspur and may look to ‘force’ a transfer in the summer. If he does, Real Betis remain very interested in securing his services for next season.

Having spent the last two seasons out on loan at Villarreal, Lo Celso was retained by Ange Postecoglou for this campaign.

The Argentine midfielder has played 19 times for Tottenham this term, registering two goals and two assists (Transfermarkt).

However, he has had to settle for substitute appearances by and large, and has struggled with a number of injuries, meaning he has clocked up just 567 minutes this season in total. That’s an average of just under 30 minutes per appearance.

Will Giovani Lo Celso leave Spurs?

This lack of minutes has led to Lo Celso being frustrated, with former club Real Betis potentially picking up their pursuit of the midfielder once more.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who claim Real Betis have held a ‘constant’ interest in Lo Celso for quite some time, and now hope Spurs will lower their demands to allow a transfer this summer.

Lo Celso is believed to be thinking about the 2026 World Cup and his place in the Argentina squad. With this in mind, the report suggests the 28-year-old “plans to force” his way out of North London at the end of the season.

Betis have apparently been in “constant” communication with Lo Celso for months, and the La Liga outfit are thought to be “crazy” about the idea of a reunion with their former player.

They’ll need Spurs to play ball and have a realistic valuation, but Lo Celso has reportedly made it clear he wants to go back to Spain.

Spurs Web Opinion

I thought Lo Celso might have something to offer, but his time is probably up now. We are better off cashing in this summer and getting him off our books, particularly given his exit would free up space for another non-homegrown player in our squad next season.
