Report: La Liga side to offer striker new contract to ward off Spurs interest

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to receive a blow in their rumoured interest in Real Betis striker Loren Moron after reports claimed that the Spaniard has agreed to extend his contract at Betis.

Moron has had an impressive season for the La Liga side, managing eleven goals and three assists in all competitions so far this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Jose Mourinho is reportedly a fan of the 26-year-old and is said to be interested in bringing him to North London this summer (La Razon).

However, Estadio Deportivo now claim that Betis have offered the striker a new contract in order to keep him away from the hands of potential suitors including Spurs and Napoli

The report claims that Moron is keen to remain at the Benito Villamarin Stadium and has agreed in principle to sign the extension, which will see him commit his future to the club until 2024.

It is said that the new contract, which is expected to be announced in the next few days has a release clause in the region of €50million.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Moron was a target for us, I would imagine that he is pretty low down the list of the striker targets we were pursuing this summer. For the price that Betis were said to be demanding for him (even before his contract extension), there was very little value for money in the deal.
