Report: La Liga star set to ‘reject’ Spurs move

With little over a day left before the transfer window closes, Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with late moves for a number of players across Europe including Bruno Fernandes, Giovani Lo Celso and Paulo Dybala (Independent).

Among them is Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, who is said to be the subject of a season-long loan bid from Spurs (Sky Sports).

The midfielder, who previously played under Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol for six months, has failed to live up to expectations at Barcelona since his move from Liverpool back in January of 2018.

He is said to be surplus to requirements at the Catalan club and Spurs were reported to be in negotiations to get him to the Premier League.

However, now a report by talkSPORT claims that deal is not likely to go through. It is reported the Brazilian international will turn down the chance to join Tottenham.

If this true, then Spurs might have to look elsewhere if they wish to strengthen their midfield before the deadline.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is worth taking this report with a pinch of salt as it is only talkSPORT who are reporting that the deal if off. Most other sources seem to suggest that the negotiations are still ongoing. It will be interesting to see if Spurs push hard for Coutinho or instead shift their attention to Bruno Fernandes or Giovani Lo Celso.
