Report: La Liga side can’t match Spurs player’s salary – Other clubs are interested

Sergio Reguilon has not shut the door on rejoining Sevilla from Tottenham but the defender’s current salary may make it a slow process, according to the print edition of AS (13/07/22 — via Sport Witness).

The report claims the Spanish left-back is open to joining Julen Lopetegui’s side this summer after previously building a good relationship with the club, although a transfer is tipped to be a slow burner.

It is also explained that Sevilla are currently unable to afford the finances behind a potential deal with Reguilon now drawing interest from a host of unnamed top clubs across Europe.

Reguilon, 26, spent one season on loan at Sevilla, playing 38 games (Transfermarkt) as he played a role in the Sevillistas Rojiblancos’ most recent success in the Europa League.

The Spain international has struggled for consistency throughout his time in North London as his spot in the side was seemingly taken by Ryan Sessegnon towards the end of last season.

His future was made even clearer after he was one of four players to be left out of Antonio Conte’s travelling squad for the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea.

It is pretty clear that Reguilon is not the first choice option to play at left wing-back for Conte and that is evident after being left out of the first pre-season squad.

A move back to Sevilla would be good for him as it would be familiar surroundings and a fresh start, but his wage demands may need to drop for that to be made possible.
