Report: League leaders ready to make move for Tottenham man

The Daily Mail have claimed that Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal will make a move to land Tottenham forward Richarlison this summer.

Richarlison‘s season has ended prematurely, with news breaking on Friday evening that the striker’s latest calf injury will see him miss not only Tottenham’s upcoming fixtures but also Brazil’s Copa America campaign (The Athletic).

The 27-year-old could have potentially already made his final appearance for Spurs, with various sources suggesting over recent weeks that he is of interest to Saudi Arabian sides and that Spurs are open to letting him go (TBR Football).

Richarlison was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Spurs’ 2-1 win against Burnley at the weekend where he enjoyed a fun moment before kick-off when he headed to the south stand to wave a giant flag bearing his resemblance.

Richarlison is the subject of interest ahead of the transfer window

According to The Mail’s update, Al-Hilal are now ready to push ahead with a move for the Tottenham man in the wake of Neymar’s season-ending injury.

The report points out that the Saudi league leaders, who are one of the clubs backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, are ‘privately confident’ they will secure a deal for the former Everton striker.

While they are yet to make a formal approach for Richarlison, it is suggested that Tottenham will listen to offers for the centre-forward as Ange Postecoglou is planning a major overhaul of the first-team squad this summer.

I do wonder if Richarlison’s latest injury might put off some Saudi clubs from spending big on him.

The Brazilian has struggled to remain fit for sustained periods over the last few years of his career which has certainly impacted his ability to make a consistent impression in N17.
