Leeds United believe they have a great chance of beating Tottenham to the signing of Northern Ireland sensation, Charlie Allen, according to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post. The 16-year-old is currently contracted to Linfield FC.
Allen reportedly enjoyed a successful trial with Spurs last summer and the North London club are said to have held talks over a deal for the young forward (Football Insider).
It was claimed last year that Chelsea and Manchester City were also interested in signing the youngster, but he ended up staying with Linfield for another season.
The Yorkshire Evening Post now reports that Allen could be on the move this summer, a year on from his trail with Spurs.
It is claimed that Leeds United have moved into pole position for the forward’s signature and are confident of beating the interested Premier League clubs.
However, it is suggested that a deal is not imminent as of yet due to the financial uncertainty brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
