Report: Leeds could rival Spurs with interest in relegated star

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have yet more competition to deal with in the race for David Brooks this summer, with Leeds United said to be eyeing a move for the midfielder, according to Bleacher Report.

Brooks had an impressive first season in the Premier League after completing an £11.5million move to the south coast from Sheffield United in the summer of 2018.

The Welsh international won many admirers with his performances when he proved to be one of the main creative outlets for Eddie Howe’s side/

However, the 23-year-old was not able to build on his impressive debut campaign this season with injury problems causing him to miss a large chunk of the season.

Brooks was reportedly in a five-man transfer shortlist drawn up by Tottenham this summer following Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship (Evening Standard).

However, Sky Sports revealed that the Lilywhites could face considerable competition for the midfielder, with West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City all interested in his services.

Bleacher Report has now claimed that Leeds are also keen to on Brooks ahead of their first top-flight campaign since 2003-04.

The report reveals that Marcelo Bielsa has identified the Welshman as a candidate to bolster his midfield options this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not really a surprise that Brooks is generating so much interest given the impact he made in his first season at the Vitality Stadium. Brooks certainly oozes class but I do not see where he fits in at Spurs.

The likes of Newcastle, Leeds and Palace need him more than we do, and the 23-year-old will likely get more game time at those clubs than he would at Spurs. So, I am not sure a move to North London would appeal to him.
