Report: Leeds determined to beat Spurs to £20m-rated defender

The Sun have claimed that Leeds United are set to step up their efforts to sign rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Robin Koch this summer.

Koch has had an outstanding campaign at the back for Freiburg last season and his performances have reportedly caught the attention of other clubs including Spurs.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the centre-half during the January transfer window (Record via Sport Witness) and have been backed to make another attempt to sign him this summer (Bild).

The Telegraph claimed last week that Leeds could enter the race for Koch if they failed to sign Ben White from Brighton.

The Sun now reveal that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are ready to shift their attention to the Freiburg centre-back after seeing their third offer for White being rejected by Brighton.

It is revealed that Bielsa is desperate to add a ball-playing centre-half to his squad and wants to bring Koch to Elland Road.

The report claims that Leeds hope to sign the German international for around £20million, despite interest from the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Lazio and RB Leipzig.

Spurs Web Opinion

Koch’s versatility and composure would make him a top addition for any side in the Premier League. The Freiburg star is relatively young for a defender and could develop into a top player in the coming years.

Signing a younger, up and coming defender like Koch or Kim Min-jae could be the right way for us to go, with Alderweireld, Sanchez and Dier, all seemingly having won Mourinho’s trust.
