Report: Leeds United plot move for 21-year-old Spurs academy graduate

Former Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid, Marcus Edwards could be set for a shock return to the Premier League, with Football Insider reporting that Leeds United are plotting a move for the winger.

Edwards has been in good form since signing for Vitoria Guimaraes last summer, notching up nine goals and nine assists in all competitions in his first season in Portugal (transfermarkt.com).

It was reported back in June that Spurs were exploring the possibility bringing the youngster back to North London by taking advantage of the 50 per cent sell-on clause they have in their agreement with Guimaraes (Desportivo de Guimaraes via Record).

Football Insider now report that Marcelo Bielsa is keen to add another wide player to his squad before the transfer window shuts on Monday and that Edwards has been identified as a target.

With Leeds unable to make progress in their attempts to sign Manchester United’s Daniel James or Rangers’ Ryan Kent, it is said that they are now ready to shift their attention to the former Tottenham man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Edwards’ talent was never really in question at Spurs. It was only his attitude that Pochettino seemed to have issues with. There is no doubt that the 21-year-old has the talent to thrive under Bielsa at Elland Road. He will certainly be desperate to prove Spurs wrong if he does make a return to the Premier League.
